Ran 8.70's with a stock block 400/499 with Indy 440-1's on spray, Dart weighed 3450 with me in it. Tall fill, Pro Gram caps, Oliver rods. Wound up hurting the pistons in it but thats just because they weren't set up for spray. If I was to do another stock block, it would be with aluminum rods and main caps.
That's what I'm talking about How much spray were u using if you don't mind sharing I was wondering if anyone on here was running in the 8's with a stock block at 3300-3500 lbs.Thax..

This subjuct gets touchy.Yes I have several cars in the 8s with stock 400 blocks. They all are around 3,500lbs.Hit them with 250-500 extra on the hose.If the motor is happy it could care less what block you have.I DONOT hard block or use girdles.I feel that is the cause of some of the cracks in the mains and such. SS/AA have run new blocks since around 94.Yes there is a hugh differce in a stock block and the new ones.Lenny

I think Gecker ran S/C with both of these cars, so that would be 8.90 with some extra in the tank.. You can see the #2 on the window with the S/C.. What's amazing is the Omni Charger weighed about 2750# and only had a 471" B1 motor. If I remember correctly,(old age) He won his very first attempt in this car in S/C.. The newer Daytona car was done by S&D Race cars and weighed in the neighborhood of 2400#. I believe that car was #2 S/C in the world a couple times and I think it had a 471" B1 in it as well. He would put easily 400 runs a year back then.. up to 600 runs.. All low decks. I believe they only had aluminum main caps and maybe filled. Koffel would know better.. They would rpm at about 8400-8700 if I remember correctly.. Vintage photos.. Chris..
